Multimorbidity is a key challenge for the medical and health services.


The Center of Competence Multimorbidity addresses these challenges by pursuing the following objectives:

  • Establish a dedicated research community for multimorbidity (with partners from medicine, biomedical sciences, computer science, informatics, psychology, epidemiology, and management)
  • Develop new methods and skills to assess multimorbidity and its complexities
  • Develop diagnostic, therapeutic and care models (with focus on interactions)
  • Understanding of complexity (interactions of Medicine, individuals, society)
  • Implement in translational research, the knowledge gained in different areas of health care delivery for multimorbid patients
  • The inter- and transdisciplinary consideration of multimorbidity in Society and Public Health
  • Disseminate evidence-based knowledge about multimorbidity for the various stakeholders
